They outlive their loves by thousands of years. Reincarnation doesn’t exist on this plane. Yet they continue to accept others for whatever time they have together. Save for Cole. His love for his last wife burns in his soul four centuries after her death.

When the service they render to the noblemen of Cornerstone Deep brings him face to face with Anna, something unexpected happens. In a realm of silent souls, hers speaks to him. He responds with a kiss – one that when joined with the spell of servitude she inhaled, binds her soul.

Angering the lords of Cornerstone Deep and bringing the wrath of the Gods upon them, Cole tries desperately to undo his wrong, despite the determination of the Grand Marshal to have her.

Thank you for having me here today, Deb.  HEA Romance with a Little Kick is a beautiful blog.

Lately, I’ve been immersed in revisions, trying to make a romantic scene just right in my next novel, Aumelan.  Passionate love is swirling in my mind right now.  So, I bet you can guess what my post will be about.  *grin*

Being the mushy romance author that I am, of course the topic Passionate Love conjures images of a couple in heated embrace.  But, as I opened my Word document and began typing, I realized it can encompass more than that.  We can become fervent, enthusiastic, and perhaps overzealous with whatever our love may be.  Jobs, hobbies, even material possessions can take that place.  Love can bring about all kinds of passionate actions such as obsessing over success or polishing that car for the fourth time today.

But, we all know that’s not direction I’ll take with the topic.  I choose to think of a love as being that someone special.  And while the “heated embrace” is something I certainly won’t throw aside, I believe it can go so much further when someone is touch that deeply.  It’s the whole-hearted, soul-inspired, all-logic-disappears moments that my heroes and heroines experience in my books.  A love where your heart beats in time with your loves’ breathing, rises when he/she looks into your eyes, dances with his/her laughter.  It’s a love that makes anything possible and crosses boundaries; be it national, social status, even death.  A beautiful example?

I love the emotions portrayed in Ghost.  I love the old Righteous Brothers’ song, Unchained Melody.  It falls right in with the passion that my hero, Cole, in the first books of my Chronicles of Shilo Manor series, Cornerstone Deep and Cornerstone Deep Echoes experiences.

The mantle clock chimed, and Cole looked to the old timepiece. He glowered as the throaty tone sounded three times and fell silent. If it wasn’t a priceless treasure, he’d crush the wretched thing. Time meant nothing to him.

He returned his gaze to the family’s Candle Vignette. The item’s silver core fit heavily in his hand. A single picture shown in the flame emitted from the cleft in its crest. The amber glow framed the memory by a faded margin. Blue eyes sparkled up at him. Long brown ringlets framed the cherubic face. She had died nearly four hundred years past, but her smile still touched his soul.

Mianna.

Footsteps came from the hall, and Cole looked at the door. James leaned his head inside. “I thought I’d find you here.”

Cole pursed his lips and waved a hand over the picture album. The depiction faded. “Meaning?”

“Whenever you’ve courted a woman as long as you have this time, you retreat to the study.”

It was probably true. He glanced around. It seemed to be the only place he found solace. The tapestries that hung along the east wall were the closest thing to home he could surround himself with. The blue sun of Meridian and the moons that cast an indigo glow soothed him somewhat. It was insane. He longed for the gifted dimension. Yet he searched for love here, in Cornerstone Deep—for the soul who had touched his so long ago.

Cole’s love for Mianna burned bright, despite her death.  And when he learned rebirth existed in Cornerstone Deep, he stopped at nothing to get her back…to the point of angering the Lords and breaking ancient covenants.  Though Cole’s heart and soul belonged to Mianna, a lot happened to make her doubt.

She gently placed a hand to his cheek, guiding him to look into her eyes.

“I long. I pray thee touch me.

Carry forth my will.

Leave behind the world, my love.

Be this moment mine.”

Cole’s heart wrapped around her plea and the reality of her return filled his being. She was his. Now and forever.

“This moment, my life, my existence is yours.” He cradled her face with his hands. “Every breath you take is a song to my soul.”

Her words fell to his lips in a hush. “Make love to me, Cole. I need to feel you still love me.”

The breath of Zephyr flowed freely and licorice and cream rode his whisper. “How could you ever doubt.”

My wish is that all of you have the chance to experience such a love—a passionate love that will sweep you away to whole-hearted, soul-inspired, all-logic-disappears moments.

Have you been fortunate to have experienced such a love?  I’d love for you to share.
