Summary:

A witch’s work is never done, and in bestselling author H. P. Mallory’s mesmerizing new novel, Jolie Wilkins finds that the real magic is only just beginning.

For smart and sexy witch Jolie Wilkins, being Queen of the Underworld is a royal pain. Back from a round of time travel, Jolie must now protect her realm from the sinister Lurkers—a powerful breed of half-humans bent on conquering the undead. And if there’s one thing she knows, it’s that the supernatural never go down without a fight.

At least Jolie has her soul mate (and finally official boyfriend), warlock Rand Balfour, by her side. Honorable, brave, and unbelievably handsome, Rand is everything Jolie wants in a man. So why can’t she forget the dangerously alluring vampire, Sinjin Sinclair? With her private life heating up and a battle boiling over, Jolie sets out to prove that in matters of love and war, the fairer hex has its own set of charms.

Deb’s Review:

Something Witchy This Way Comes by HP Mallory is the fifth book and from my understanding perhaps the last installment of the Jolie Wilkins series. As with the rest of this series, its packed with twists, shocker moments, new found ties, and in this magnificent story, a love triangle that is hot enough the burn up the pages. I can not say enough about the importance of reading this series in order, so that you don’t lose your way as you get to know the characters of this wonderful series.

Book #1- Fire Burn and Cauldron
Book#2- Toil and Trouble
Book#3- Witchful Thinking
Book#4- The Witch Is Back

Rand Balfour’s character is stunningly handsome and endearing. In addition, he’s been in love with Jolie forever. I am interested in seeing how he is going to handle the new twist to their relationship.

Jolie Wilkins’ character usually is a sure thing with me, but in this 5th book, I find myself not liking the indecisiveness of her character. She was almost absent from her true form.

Sinjin Sinclair is a bodyguard, friend, and someone that holds a piece of Jolie’s heart. He serves his queen in and out of the bedroom. *grins* Moreover, he adds a nice touch to the story and to Rand and Jolie’s life.

These three travel from different time periods trying to keep the Lurkers from nabbing Jolie, their queen . Under complete secrecy, Sinjin stays close to Jolie, which causes their bond grow even stronger. Jolie finds herself with feelings she has no idea how to handle, which increases the depth of her character and makes the relationship even more complex. Although Rand has become Jolie’s true bond mate, Jolie finds herself loving both men which also makes for an interesting and exciting plot.

The secondary characters add much to help the story move at a fast pace, but never over shadow the hero and heroine. The plot line is a show of HP Mallory’s talent at placing you in the time period of the setting, which varies since our heroes and heroine travel through time.

When Jolie is abducted by Luce, the head of the Lurkers, she finds out a few secrets that will shock and please her. Therefore, I do find this hard to believe with all the open ended things that is floating about in this plot line, to even think of this as the last book in this series. There are so many unanswered questions and things left unsaid.

Mrs. Mallory, will we get our questions answered? If this is truly the last book in this series? Was it your intention to leave the series with a few cliffhangers?

I have to say even though I found Jolie’s character a little more off the charts than normal, I was not disappointed in the outcome.

Something Witchy This Way Comes is a fun, delightful read. Once again, HP Mallory delivers a time travel, urban fantasy romance sure to please, with an added kick that had me saying..Oh!
