His temptation. Her secret. Their summer.
Dani Sullivan has come to Lake Bliss to write her latest cookbook…and to see if the baby she gave up for adoption eight years ago is happy. When she’s done with her reconnaissance, she plans to return to Detroit without any doubts about past decisions. But when she sees her little boy—indeed happy despite living with his single dad—she finds she can’t keep her promise to stay away…from her son or from his flirtatious father, who has no idea of her true identity.
Recently divorced sheriff Matt Reagan is ready for a new relationship, but he doesn’t want short-term—his son needs permanence, and so does Matt’s heart. Unfortunately, it’s the smart-mouthed and sinfully sexy Ms. Sullivan who catches his eye. But when Matt learns Dani’s secrets, will he still want her to stay? Or will her chance for love last just for the summer?
TWO SNIPPETS FROM JUST FOR THE SUMMER, for you to enjoy!
“If you want to go back to bed,” he said, leaning down to whisper in her ear, “I could tuck you in.”
As he talked, his lips brushed the sensitive skin below her ear. His denim-clad knee played against her bare leg when he stepped back. Her heart beat in a maniacal rhythm, and a throbbing started low in her belly. Why did every encounter with him feel like foreplay? “I’m sure you’re probably quite good at tucking.”
He leaned back, gave her an absurdly sexy smile. “I have a fair amount of experience.”
Her head told her to keep her mouth shut. Instead, she lowered her voice a notch. “It’s been a while since I’ve been…tucked.”
The man was gorgeous fully clothed. Fully naked would no doubt put her in a coma. As it was, his current half-dressed state, with his hard muscles and the perfect amount of chest hair, might give her a stroke.
He moved his hand to his zipper. “Why don’t I just strip right here? It’ll probably answer all the questions bouncing around in your head.”
Dani shoved her sunglasses up the bridge of her nose, peering at him through the polarized lenses, hoping he’d think her red face was sunburn. “I was just wondering…”
She glanced at the black waistband that peeked over the waist of his jeans, cursed herself for looking, and cleared her throat. “I was wondering what time you were heading to the cookout.”
